Hi BiciRace,
I am disappointed about my second place at the TT nationals. I think I had a good performance, averaging 50.6 K/hr, my best average speed ever in a long distance crono. After some kilometers I had in sight Nibali (Liquigas), which I considered one of the most dangerous riders, together with Bruseghin and Quinziato.
After the first time check I was advised by Matteo Algeri that I was behind Bruseghin by some seconds and I increased the pace until reaching his time with 11 kilometers to go. Then I went 100%, always more than 55 K/hr, on the long straight street, a little downhill. I couldn't believe Bruseghin was going faster than me, but after the finish, when I was told he was using two disc wheels I realized my mistake. He was able to take the risk to ride with two disc wheels because there was no wind at all. So he made the right decision and I lost. He went super fast. [Read: Pinotti Passes Tricolore to Bruseghin]
Anyway it's in the past now and I will try to ride a good race next Sunday in the road race. I think that the race is hard, but I feel confident about my form and I have nothing to lose. I will race with Mori and Riccò, and we will see who of us three is going good after 200 kilometers and then try to achieve the maximum from the race.
After Sunday's race I will have a bit of rest, to gain the mental power and strength for the second part of the season. I will take part in a training camp with the track national team from July 6th to 15th to train for the track national champs at the end of July.
Bye,
Marco
